Some 45 pints of blood were collected during the Blood Donation exercise held on Wednesday 24th May 2017 at the WMA Head Office, Port Louis. The WMA participated in the World Water Day 2017, which was held at La Marie Water Treatment Plant from 21st to 24th March 2017. This year’s theme was ‘Wastewater the Untapped Resource’. The WMA stand was visited by the Hon. Congratulations to the WMA team for winning the championship for the FMSC Futsal 2017 competition. The final was played at Footfive, Bagatelle on Sunday 19 March 2017. 16 teams amongst which WMA (represented by 2 teams A&B), Mauritius Post, MCB Club, CWA Club, Sotravic, Phoenix Beverages Ltd, Allied Motors, SBM and PADCO participated in the FMSC Futsal 2017.
As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility the WMA organised a lunch on 4th December 2016 at “Autism Maurice”, an organisation which caters for children who have lifelong disorder affecting three areas such as communication, social interaction and behavioural disabilities. Gifts were also distributed to some 50 children from “Autisme Maurice”. The children were overwhelmed with joy. The Hon Ivan Collendavello, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Energy and Public Utilities, graced the function by his presence.
With a view to improving efficiency, the WMA Board organised a 3 days’ Workshop on the organisational restructure of the WMA at the Hilton Mauritius Resort and Spa, Flic en Flac, from 22nd to 24th September 2016. The Hon. Ivan Leslie Collandavelloo, GCSK, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Public Utilities, the Chairman of the WMA Board, Board members, Management team and staff participated fully in that workshop.
The WMA in collaboration with the Representatives of the Ministry of Health and Quality of Life conducted a Health Screening on Non Communicable Diseases from 03rd to 07th October 2016 at the Curepipe Sub Office, Montagne Jacquot WWTP and WMA Head Office for WMA staff.
